Brushing your teeth each morning and night, and making sure to thoroughly floss your teeth at least once each day is essential for removing food particles, plaque, and bacterial deposits from your mouth. This is essential for preventing hardened tartar and plaque acids.

If you fail to perform this daily oral hygiene routine consistently, the chronic buildup of plaque acids could gradually start to demineralize an area of tooth enamel. As this starts to develop, you might notice tooth sensitivity problems and the possible development of small cavities on one or more teeth.

If it’s caught early Dr. Barrie Suzanne Zweier and her staff can often repair a small cavity by installing a simple dental filling made from composite resin or metallic amalgam.

If there are further concerns about the mineral density of your tooth enamel, she might also recommend administering a simple fluoride treatment.

Going forward you might want to also make sure that you are brushing your teeth with a fluoridated toothpaste that has received the American Dental Association’s Seal of Approval. This will help you maintain strong tooth enamel between your regularly scheduled dental checkups.
