As the fall season quickly approaches, you’re probably trying to get your child ready for the first day of school or even the holiday season. As you’re doing the necessary things, Dr. Barrie Suzanne Zweier encourages you to also prepare your child’s smile for the upcoming season.
The first thing you can do is solidify the oral hygiene routine. We know the summer can be a crazy time, and sometimes kids end up brushing late, forgetting to floss, and even forgetting to clean their smile altogether. We encourage you to schedule a time for your child to clean their mouth. Make sure they brush and floss as this time.
The second thing you can do is schedule an appointment for your child’s six-month checkup. This appointment will allow our dental team to examine your child’s smile and ensure everything is on the right track. It will also give us a chance to deeply clean as well as strengthen the teeth.
The third thing you can do is talk to our dentist about a custom-made mouthguard for your child. If your child plays sports, especially high-contact sports, they are probably about to start up again, which means your child’s smile needs to be protected. So, make sure your child has a reliable mouthguard when they attend tryouts or the first day of practice.
